Design inspiration comes to me from EVERYWHERE & ANYWHERE and surprisingly the most while I am vacationing. When it comes to vacations, I sometimes just want to getaway and take a break, but it ends up being my camera and I taking loads of interesting and inspiring photos. Nowadays, I want my vacations to actually feel like vacations. Typically when I’m in this mood, I prefer hotels that will happily cater to my temporary laziness by having lots of amenities to choose from, most importantly, a luxurious spa. Check out a few of my favorite places when I really want to relax, wind down and recharge.
Set at the foot of the San Jacinto Mountains in sunny Palm Springs, California, The Avalon is the ultimate desert hideaway. This hotel takes on the mid-century modern elegance Palm Springs is known for in both its rooms and bungalows. Decorated in a black, white, and gray palette with marble accents, The Avalon exudes old Hollywood style in this infamous desert.
The Parker Hotel
Also in Palm Springs, The Parker Hotel is yet another example of the mid-century modern elegance this area is celebrated for. Whether you’re indulging in the Gene Autry residence (yes, that Gene Autry), or you’re loving life in a private villa, your stay at The Parker will be nothing but luxurious. Throughout the estate you’ll find Hermes, Peter Thomas Roth, and Jonathan Adler decor to ensure that your stay is not only an upscale experience but a beautiful one, too.
Originally built in the 1930s, The Tides continues to exude old world South Beach. Interior designed by Kelly Wearstler, this hotel embodies the stunning Art Deco style it was initially established with. From the lobby to the each of the three penthouses, The Tides is the epitome of South Beach opulence meets sophistication. The natural coastal tones and the staggering Atlantic Ocean views make for a comfortably chic place to kick back after exploring the intoxicating city of Miami.
Matisse Beach Club
As if being located in Australia isn’t enticing enough, Matisse Beach has quite a bit to offer. Relax at the bar or in a poolside cabana, this property is complete with breathtaking views of Scarborough.
