Bringing In Style: Entryway Design

The entryway or foyer of your home is such a unique area! This is a heavy traffic space that should be extremely organized and practical for your everyday life, yet beautiful and welcoming. I believe having an entryway that makes a statement is the best way to make a great first impression. After all, it’s the first place our guests see when they walk into our homes.

Not all entryways are designed the same. Some are small and some are large and dramatic with high ceilings, yet others immediately bring you directly into a living space. Depending on the layout of your home, you’ll need to assess what type of design or decoration works best for your entryway. If you are looking to bring life into this space, regardless of how large or small, you’ll want to consider my design and accessorizing tips below!

It is important to engage visitors immediately by creating an eye-catching wall display. I love including a large piece of artwork to draw in visitors. The use of stone accents, wall art, and sconces can be used to add texture and personality to any space.

If you have a space built for overhead lighting, consider hanging nontraditional pendant lighting or a modern chandelier to give the space a light glow. Hanging your lighting from the right lengths will add a stunning visual effect and will add depth to your entryway. 29_laurieperez_retouched

If you have an entry space that leads directly into the main living area, you can keep it simple by adding a feature design that separates the spaces. In this design, we used contrasting flooring to create the look of separation without dealing with the hassles of complicated design. It is important to keep the entryway clear of large furniture to create a feeling of openness.

If you have a smaller space for your foyer, add in a table and a chair combo, or even just a chair, to give it a comfy and welcoming feel. Give the area a slight pop of color by bringing in a bright rug or throw pillow.

Creating an entryway space that will keep your guests coming back for more can be a fun yet challenging task. Just remember some my design tips and you will be all set!
