Traveling to the 2017 Spring High Point Market was such a fun and unexpected adventure! I am so happy that I had the opportunity to meet so many amazing new people and learn more about the latest trends in design. As I begin to prepare for a number of upcoming projects I can’t help but think of all the amazing textures and colors that were used in the design of each collection. After returning to Houston, I had the opportunity to host a design trends talk during Texas Design Week where I discussed a few upcoming trends in hospitality design. I find myself remembering all the amazing pieces with rich color palettes and bold structures that would be perfect for a highly designed hospitality interior.

I’m still feeling the inspiration from #HPMKT and I’m ready to see what’s to come in the remainder of the year. In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite hospitality design trends.

Colors That Pop
With a neutral base, we’re infusing deep, saturated colors that create a bold striking experience in the space.

Joybird Furniture

Warmer Metal Finishes
Bright metallic sheen have given way to golds, bronzes, and warmer metals. Prepare to start seeing even darker metals, such as dark bronze, incorporated into hospitality interiors.

Pandoras Manor 

Steampunk
The combination of Victorian fashion and modern technology. Hospitality and hotel interiors may include steampunk elements from the surrounding neighborhood of the site, integrating various features such as exposed brick, and “beat-up” or natural local patina as decor,  giving the space that ultra, one-of-a-kind, boutique look and feel.

Adding Text
Whether it’s text embossed on the floor of a hotel lobby or a menu printed on the wall of a restaurant, more designers will begin to use text in their hospitality designs.

Outdoors to Indoors
Outdoor elements are becoming increasingly popular in interior design, from upholstery to wood finishes and – of course – living plants used as decor. Adding pieces like hanging sofas, screens and cabanas can create a true feeling of escape.
