How to Set Powerful Goals and Resolutions for the New Year!

As 2015 comes to a close, my priorities start to focus on strategizing for the next year and creating powerful goals for myself and my brands during this much-needed downtime. Let me first say that 2015 was an incredible year for my company and I. (You can read all about it in my “Best of 2015” blog for the full recap).

I am so thankful and proud of how far we’ve come and grown as a company over the past year. We had a lot of great things happen which called for much celebration, while there are still many things that we still need to progress and work on. As I look back on where I was at this time last year, I’m filled with great appreciation. I witnessed so many great accomplishments that I had once envisioned for myself and my company, which all came to fruition.

As I take this time to establish my own goals, I wanted to inspire each of you to become your best in 2016 and to go after dreams you may have been putting on hold. I do believe planning and setting powerful goals is the best way to continue to be prosperous in the new year ahead.

Creating powerful goals for me begins with thinking and reflecting on where I am now.

THE STEPS:

First ask yourself: What habits have you put in place to get you where you are now? What has worked? Failed? This is always a great starting point to think about how you should change certain things up in the coming year and work on specific areas in your business and personal life. I also like to reflect on what goals I didn’t achieve for the year and why. You should take your time during the reflecting process to make sure you are clear about what you want to accomplish in the year ahead.

Then, I like to start visualizing what I want for my company and myself for the next year. This helps me with goal setting and being clear on what I want and don’t want. From here, I begin to write down goals for each vision. I found this excellent New Year’s resolution visual to help you out when creating new goals. I just love the categories put in place that allows you to think about what you want to do in a different way.

For example, if I want to become more efficient on completing things, I would begin writing down a plan to stay organized and on top of things. I would put under the “eliminate” category unneeded emails in my inbox and/or under the “do more” section I would put organizing after the end of each work day.

I would then write down a plan of action for each goal. Make sure you write measurable goals. I personally like to split them into quarters for the year. I also like to create both long and short term goals. This is how I make sure my plan of action is on the right path to my future goals.

Lastly, hold yourself accountable for getting results. Remember you must put your plan into action immediately to truly see the results you want. Make sure to take time and evaluate your progress every three months. This will let you see if you are on the right track or not. I hope this helps you succeed in the coming year!
