Maison&Objet’s Mission to Elevate Women in Design

Maison&Objet’s Mission to Elevate Women in Design

Design, at its best, is deeply personal. And for me, that belief is at the heart of everything I do, especially in my role as U.S. Ambassador for Maison&Objet.

As one of the world’s most influential platforms for design, Maison&Objet has long understood that beauty, innovation, and impact are born not just from objects, but from dialogue. Their Women&Design initiative is a reflection of that belief in action. With a global lens, it shines a light on the leadership, creativity, and vision of women who are shaping the future of the industry.

Women&Design, launched in September 2024, is a movement built on three key objectives: identifying groundbreaking projects led by women, showcasing female talent across creative disciplines, and facilitating meaningful international connections. It represents a meaningful shift in how we elevate and support leadership in design. With a growing network that includes designers, brand leaders, and advocates from across fashion, lifestyle, tech, and the arts, it invites a broader conversation about equity, influence, and what it means to lead with purpose in design today.

As part of this mission, I had the honor of co-hosting the recent Women&Design dinner in New York alongside Maison&Objet’s Managing Director Mélanie Leroy. The evening brought together 27 of the most dynamic minds in the industry: designers, editors, creative directors, and tastemakers from across the U.S. and Europe. With representatives from Vogue, Elle, DOMINO, and Forbes in attendance, the conversations moved beyond trend and toward something deeper—purpose, mentorship, and the evolving definition of creative leadership.

In a time where visibility often takes precedence over substance, Women&Design reminds us that the most impactful ideas are often shared in more intimate settings. These are the rooms where people speak not as brands, but as individuals. Where honesty and vulnerability spark imagination. Where future collaborations are born, not through spectacle, but through trust. As someone who has always led from a place of clarity and conviction, I see spaces like this as critical to our growth as an industry.

We also used the evening to celebrate two brilliant creatives: Joy Moyler and Orane Abezis, as Women in Design Award nominees. Their presence and perspective offered a powerful reflection of what it means to lead with both excellence and authenticity. In these conversations, there was a shared sense of responsibility. A recognition that we are shaping more than aesthetics—we are shaping culture.

Maison&Objet’s Mission to Elevate Women in Design

My work has always been about redefining boundaries. I have built a career not only designing for luxury, but also reshaping what luxury can look and feel like. In my role with Maison&Objet, I see it as my responsibility to elevate the next generation of voices and push for spaces that allow for meaningful evolution, not just of design, but of how we engage with one another across disciplines and continents.

As Maison&Objet continues to evolve, so too does its global footprint. The upcoming fair in Paris will feature a more curated, experience-driven format that mirrors the values behind this dinner. Fewer booths. More stories. And most importantly, more space for the type of meaningful encounters that move the industry forward.

At Nina Magon Studio, we share this vision. Our work has always been driven by bold refinement, global perspective, and emotional resonance. As I continue to represent Maison&Objet in the U.S., my goal is to foster more of these purposeful conversations—where ideas are nurtured, voices are elevated, and innovation is rooted in something real.

Because in the end, design is not just about what we create. It’s about who we connect with, how we show up, and the impact we leave behind.

And for me, it often starts in rooms like this.
