Project Tour: Sandra Lee Show House

Happy Thursday! We are winding down from a week of amazing 2017 Super Bowl LI events here in Houston that brought some extravagant parties and famous names to our great city. During Super Bowl week, our friend, the award-winning chef and author Sandra Lee, came into town to serve as the official guide to the city while highlighting BBVA’s 51 Things to Live Bright in Houston. Throughout her stay in the amazing city of Houston, Sandra hosted a BBVA party and celebrity interviews from a luxury show house designed by yours truly! We created a beautiful transitional modern design for the show house that featured furniture from BeDESIGN, accessories from Feliz Interiors & Restoration Hardware, rugs from London Grey Rugs and art from none other than Barbara Davis Gallery!

When creating a transitional modern interior, it is important to establish balance throughout the space so that the result is a sophisticated, timeless design that is both updated yet classic.

If you have a home that is heavily trimmed with millwork or architectural elements, you can create a beautiful neutral backdrop with muted tones to easily combine with more updated and modern furniture pieces that will bring out the details in your home. Neutral tones are the easiest way to create a sense of comfort in any transitional space.

Try not to rely on color to add personality to a transitional space – use texture to the create depth and character to the room as well. Coarsely woven fabrics, natural fibers and a blend of matte and shiny finishes lend a sense of layering and help the room pop.
