Updating Your Home Series – Styling With Tables

Starting this series off we will be focusing on tables, ranging from dining tables through to occasional tables. They might seem small but these pieces can make a significant impact to the overall look of your

space.

• DINING TABLE

The dining table is usually the center of any dining room. It’s a wonderful piece of furniture that not only serves a functional purpose but one that also lends itself to entertaining and sharing meals with family and loved ones.

With that in mind it is important to select one that fits the overall aesthetic of the room, as well as being functional for how you use your dining area.

ACCENT AND OCCASIONAL TABLE

Accent and occasional tables are little jewels in any room. They elevate the space by adding texture, color and visual interest. They come in different forms such as round, square and abstract, and are usually smaller than end tables.

What matters when choosing one is that it fits your space in terms of sizing and functionally. For example, is it proportional to your sofa and does it allow for storage or have enough space to entertain guests?

They are foundational elements in a space and play a practical role when the spacing allows for one.

The fun thing with these tables is they can also serve as ornamental pieces depending on the design and style. For this one you really want to select one that accents your space by taking it up a notch.

CONSOLE TABLE

Just like an accent table, a console table is one that adds more interest to a space. It is somewhat practical in the sense that it can include storage, thereby allowing more functionality to it. But for the most part it is usually decorative, as it is used to display decorative elements.
